Thyroid Federation International (TFI) (thyroid-fed.org), a global network of patient support organisations has teamed up with four international thyroid experts, including Petros Perros a UK endocrinologist, to conduct research that will help to understand patient experiences of treatment and care.

They want to gather feedback from patients receiving care for hypothyroidism which includes questions about quality of life, personality and some demographic questions such as age, household status and gender.

This study is being overseen by the Picker Institute Europe (Picker), who are an independent healthcare research charity (picker.org).

The TFI are reaching out to patients diagnosed with hypothyroidism to ask them to complete a questionnaire.

Participants must have a diagnosis of hypothyroidism, and be at least 18 years of age.

I just did this survey. I didn't hold back in the comments at the end, letting them know about the inadequacies in NHS testing and treatment I have experienced over the last 20+ years.

I have also completed the survey. I was initially pleased because it seems to accept that there are many people who benefit from or are ill without T3 treatment. Then it came to the section on Personality, before which they state they want to check whether people who become hypothyroid tend towards certain personality traits. The first question is : (something like )" Are you the sort of person who makes a fuss about things? " Of course any self-respecting person would answer " No ", since this is a value laden Yes or No question.Pretty insensitive and unscientific considering how much we as a group tend to be branded as exactly that kind of personality. As I told them in the comments section. Was this Making a Fuss? Yes or No!
