Eating chicken liver

Hi all I’ve been following a lot of discussion on here Re eating liver as it’s good for iron, B12 and folate - all things we lack with thyroid disease.

Whilst the taste is quite difficult to take, I still soldier on. I’ve tried making it as pate and also as an Indian curry (Chicken Liver Bhuna).

What’s the recommended amount to take a week? I’ve seen idiotic websites say “moderation” or “once a week” which is meaningless as it’s the amount you eat in grams that’s most relevant.

Anyone have any links to max intake based on grams or even KG.

One thing I did read which I wanted to share for other liver eaters is that the animal’s liver is where a lot of the hormones or chemicals injected into the animal end up. Therefore if you can afford it buy organic as no hormones or chemicals are allowed in the animal. Do correct me if what I’ve read is not correct in the UK.

Chicken liver is also available as capsules. I have ordered these and definitely feel a difference (my ferritin and iron levels came back lowish a few months ago):

I take the maximum dose (nine capsules) a day along with 1000 mg of vitamin C.

If you are going to use fresh liver then the maximum amount is said to be 200g per week, this is due to the high Vit A content in liver. If you have seen any of my posts about liver then I always include this information.
