Don't test FT3 on it's own, it needs to be done at the same time as TSH and FT4.
I would think that the NHS should be paying for the child's thyroid blood tests. If she has been put onto this acne treatment and she obviously is suffering the side effects, the NHS must act in her best interests, including any blood tests. Before you think of trying to get private tests send your GP a letter (always keep a copy) listing the blood test that you want your daughter to have, full thyroid and whatever else the lovely admins on here suggest.
Send it recorded or hand it in personally at the surgery.
I have done this twice this year and I have been given them all, including vitamin tests without any argument. Your problem is something different to the usual thyroid patients problems. It is up to the NHS to look after her, not for you to pay for her blood tests.
Be prepared to argue if you have to, but I don't think you will have to personally. Do keep copies of everything though.
Good luck and I hope she improves rapidly.
Good to hear you have had success with the blood test requests especially as your GP is so awful about everything else.Where I live it is impossible for any GP to get a FT3 blood test done. For years here it has been impossible, I have seen the lab responses myself . My new ( just joined after my fav senior partner retired ) GP has recently written to the endo dept at the hospital to ask for intervention/ advice / help as she is unable to get the lab to comply.
Clearly in Wales the labs are considerably more biddable to GP requests.
Let’s hope stockman27 lives in an area where a GP is able to request these results.
