As a fairly long time member on here, you will be aware that’s tiny starting dose

But presumably because you have adrenal issues it’s necessary to take starting on levothyroxine extremely slowly

What’s endocrinologist advised?

Probably going to need to creep up very slowly in 12.5mcg steps

Possibly retesting bloods 6-8 weeks after each dose increase

Endo has said that labs are fine. No thyriod med is needed.

However I saw a function doc who was willing to prx levo to see if it helps my symptoms. Would I also need to add T3?

Many thanks for helping x

Hidden may pop along.....she has adrenal experience

10 mgs of Hydrocortisone is a tiny dose! What caused you adrenal insufficiency? When do you take it? It could well be that you are struggling with insomnia because you're not taking enough HC.

I’ve been on 10mg for two years now.

7.5 mg wake

2.5 1pm

Failed 5 SST , all results are in previous post: they are borderline fails

Endo agree to start me on 10 & it made a massive difference to my energy levels I could finally sleep now & wake in the morning. I could not do that for 18 month straight. I would sleep for twenty mins and my body would wake me up and I would lay in bed from 2/3am till 7am then fall asleep. It was hell.

The docs don’t know what is causing it. They say that they hope my adrenals will recover on their own as they are still producing cortisol. 10Mg has made me have a steroid baby and put on 2 stone. I eat a organic mostly planted based fairy have meat twice a week. I’m worried to go increase as Iv already got moon face and belly weight. I also done a saliva cortisol test to check as bloods were up & down it also said I had Addison but only 8am count.

My levels in blood were 220nmol

Not low enough for primary Addison but also not above the minimum range < 300 Nmol

As your getting symptoms of Cushing's then it may be that you are too much HC. What time do you take it? HC only lasts between 4-6 hours in the body so it's best split into smaller doses taken at least 3 times a day, the largest dose should be first thing in the morning , so you could take 5mgs 30 mins before you get up & then 2.5mgs at 1pm & 6 ot 7pm to see if that makes a difference. Thank I am on the groups on fb. Any dose past 2pm creates insomnia for me.

I don’t do well with evening dose or bedtime dosing. I done the salvia test to see levels at 8am 12 4 8pm and midnight

And dose when the levels were low.

Yeh at 10mg I have steroid baby, so I am resisting to increase dose, but fatigue is still there.

So I posted my thryiod result and the advice I got was to ask my doc for Levo

& started at 12.5mcg

I got messages to advise I would need to add T3? & also if my adrenals are still struggling I would need to correct that first

Do you take HC & thryiod meds?

What your opinion on my thryiod results

Many thanks x

Insomnia yep its crap been there, I'd suggest getting your zinc level checked, it may be low, zinc helps control thyroid and cortisol levels, as zinc lowers cortisol and let's thyroid hormones rise which may be why FT3 is a bit low. the other thing high cortisol and out if balance thyroid levels can effect are your sleep neurotransmitters, you could be low in serotonin and melatonin. One let's you get to sleep the other keeps you asleep, once I balanced all these , it was sleeping beauty time 💤💤💤💤 and no thyroid adrenal issues myself... myself I take 50mg of zinc 5x a week, whereas the RDA is 10mg a day Hope that helps...

Yes I'm on HC & Levothyroxine, I take around 30mgs of HC a day split into 5-6 doses, I metabolise very quickly. I'm also on 100mcgs on Levothyroxine. I'm not so good n thyroid results, because I had a pituitary tumour removed they have to test T4 as TSH is a pituitary hormone & I probably don't produce it. For me they recommend that my T4 be in the midteens with the reference being 7.0 - 20.0 pnmol/L, mine is 15.7pnmol/L
