Link between Hashimoto and stomach problems

Hello everyone,

I’ve been diagnosed with Hashimoto process (thyroid is inflamed but it’s still operating within borders Do not on medication )

I’ve complained of a burning stomach under rib cage for years (with no diagnosis), and now have diverticulitus of sigmoid colon. I wonder if either is linked to Hashimoto?

I’ve read so much online about removing gluten from diet to help the gut, but my endocrinologist says to just eat a balanced diet with lots of veg. Allergy tests show I’m not allergic or intolerant to gluten either.

So confused as my stomach problems continue..

A gastroenterologist first questioned whether I had a problem with my thyroid, as I too had pain under rib cage. This actually resolved once I was on thyroid medication and became gluten free. I’ve not eaten gluten for almost 2 years and would not go back. It’s definitely worth trying for a few months to see if it helps you.

Awhile has past since your post. Have you seen any improvement? I have Hashimotos & struggle with G.I. issues. I am always modifying my diet in hopes of seeing some improvement. I’ve been on FODMAP lately. Hope you are doing better now.
