Medichecks Thyroid Ultra Vit Test - no longer includes folate

I expect others have found this out too, but I was disappointed to find my test results came back with no folate results, when they always have in the past.

You now have to pay £119 for a test to include it, AND arrange a blood draw, which makes it so much more expensive that the finger prick test was!!

I have noticed that Thriva do a finger prick test that includes folate and everything the ultra vit used to for only £79 - has anyone got experience with this?

Also blue horizons do one too but quite a bit more expensive...

Just wanted to warn others so they don't get caught out like I did...and would be glad of any feedback on these other tests!

Yes, they ditched the folate test from the ULTRAVIT some time ago. When you go to the test that you want to order, there is a list of tests included so it's quite clear.

Don't forget that there is 30% off Blue Horizon Premium tests with the code here:

thyroiduk.org/getting-a-dia...

and that brings it down to £90.30 currently.

I always use Blue Horizon for full thyroid/vitamin testing so use their Premium Gold. My BH tests are always processed by County Pathology so the same lab as any Medichecks tests I have done.

I haven't used Thriva, can't get my head around their website, but they do have an usual way of showing their results on the bar graph which confuses a lot of members.

Thanks SeasideSusie,

Yes it would be clear if I actually read the whole description, but having used that test quite a few times before I just ordered it again...!

Ah thanks that's v.helpful re Blue Horizons - I forgot that! I have used them in the past too, so probably best to stick with them rather than Thriva.

Thanks again!

I did get caught in the same way & had to pay my GP £40 for the blood draw.

I have just ordered Thriva for the first time. I will let you know how I get on.

£40 is a bit steep I usually pay £20.

Will be interesting to know!

It costs me £25 to get a blood draw at my GP. Must vary by area I guess...

I saw from their web page that my surgery would do blood draw for £22 but when I arrived for appointment nobody knew how to make the charge. Found out the that the nurse doing the blood draw was familiar with the kit and obviously patients in the know had never paid - by the time I left the surgery the receptionist had worked out how to charge me. I guess each surgery sets their own charge.
