Thyroid resluts

Hello, On the advice of the community here I had a Thyroid test done vis Monitor my health. I've been taking 100mcg of Levo and a quarterof a 25mcg tab of Tyromel T3. When I tried to increase the T3, I got hyper which was very unsettling.

I also have a TSH blood test booked for my GP tomorrow.

Here are the results as MMH gave me. I don't know what they will mean.

TSH - 7.0 = high range

FT4 - 19.4 = normal range

FT3 - 3.3pmol/L normal range

With many thanks.

We always need reference ranges when posting results, this is because they vary from lab to lab.

However, I have done a MMH test so know the ranges.

Your FT4 is 74% through the range (12-22) which is good, but your FT3 is barely within the range of 3.1-6.8.

When did you take your last dose of Levo and T3 before the test? Last dose of Levo should be taken 24 hours before and last dose of T3 should be taken 8-12 hours before, adjusting time and splitting dose if necessary the day before the test.

However, your TSH is a quite a long way over range and with your FT4 level one would expect to see it near the bottom of the range, especially when taking T3 as that tends to lower, even suppress TSH.

Blood should be tested 6-8 weeks after changing

Looking at previous post, you not long changed from metavive

High TSH on metavive would take minimum of 6-8 weeks to react to now taking levothyroxine plus T3

Generally it's best initially to take T3 as smaller split doses

Either 2 doses per day at 12 hours apart

Or 3 doses per day at 8 hour gap

Also essential to regularly retest vitamin D folate ferritin and B12

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Thanku, but feeling a bit frustrated. I stopped taking Metavive way back in February, but don't find the synthetic version esp T3 to my liking. Seaside Susie's response reckons that my T3 is low. I took my tablets as usual about 8am - before taking a blood sample at around 12noon. I was also taking a 2nd quarter of a tab at lunchtime, but that's when I felt hyper, so stopped after I sent the test off. Also, I read somewhere -STTM? -that before starting on T3, you need to sort out your adrenals, which I thought were ok. I was lucky to see Dr Peatfield 3 years ago, and he put me on Metavive for my thyroid but told me to rely on how things made me feel. He's retired now so can't go back.

Feel like it's a big juggling act!

With thanks

Suggest you retest after 6-8 weeks on constant unchanging dose

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking?

If taking any supplements that contain biotin you need to stop a week before ALL BLOOD TESTS
