Hi all,
I remember seeing a link on thyroid UK’s website to a thyroid test for £29 that was done by an NHS facility (Exeter I think), but I can’t find it and can’t remember who it was. Can anyone help please?
Thanks in advance!!
Hi all,

monitormyhealth.org.uk/thyr...
They also offer vitamin D testing
Only do test early Monday or Tuesday morning and post back via tracked 24 hour postal service
Stop taking any supplements that contain biotin a week before all blood tests
Always test thyroid as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
Hello SlowDragon, could you please explain the reason for leaving off biotin a week before? Presumably it interferes in some way with the test? Does that mean it also interferes with absorption or utilisation of thyroid hormones?
Many thanks!
Mollie
Biotin is used in some testing
It interferes with wide variety of tests

No other medication or supplements at same as Levothyroxine, leave at least 2 hour gap.
Some like iron, calcium, magnesium, HRT, omeprazole or vitamin D should be four hours away
(Time gap doesn't apply to Vitamin D mouth spray)
If you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test
If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal
Why has my gp never told me this.
Because most GP’s have no idea
Thank you for your advice. Because of this Im going to get tested privately - not an nhs test. I feel terrible every day now. My head is aching when I wake up. I have no energy, i am sweating so much - mainly from my throat! Does this sound like an overactive thyroid.
More likely low vitamin levels
Low B12 causes sweats
Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription
How much levothyroxine are you currently taking
Only test after 6-8 weeks on constant unchanging dose and brand of levothyroxine
Recommend using medichecks or Blue horizon
Always test as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
Only do private testing early Monday or Tuesday morning
Yes I am always given same brand of levothyroxine, the only difference in my life in last 8 months is 2 az vaccinations which I am now wondering about.
How much levothyroxine are you currently taking
I am taking 100mgs, usually alternates to 125 every 3 months.
Dose should not need to be altered hardly at all once on correct dose, taking it correctly, always same brand levothyroxine at each prescription and all four vitamins optimal….
Always test as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
Hi julesboz
Did you try the NHS Thyroid test ?
Thanks
Alps
I have used Monitor My Health (link earlier) - and they are efficient. I have another test sitting here ready when next I feel the need.
If they do what you want, their range of tests is limited, I recommend them.
Thanks helvella - again!
How are you doing?
How was it filling the tube?
I did a Medichecks self-draw once and it took a long time to fill the tube.
Thanks
