There have been a number of studies showing a link between COVID-19 and Vitamin D (and a few showing no link I believe). This recentlarge scale and detailed study gives evidence of a Vitamin D / SARS-CoV-2 link journals.plos.org/plosone/a... .
It doesn't specifically look at subjects with very low vitamin D levels (< 20ng/ml) but other studies suggest these people are at a higher risk.

Missed my brain, I even replied to the earlier post! (We had a car thief in the Street early this am, I called the police and missed some sleep. Must make a mental note to only post when I'm in a fit state).
I take 20,000iu vit D daily. (Yes its safe.) with 1 x super k from Life Extension to keep cancer from returning and to keep safe from covid (plus I take loads of other stuff and changed my diet) GREAT book on vit D is 'The miraculous results of extremely high doses of the sunshine HORMONE vitamin D3... by Jeff T Bowles.' I also take high dose Iodine (Lugol's 12%) which might interest other thyroid people. (Yes its safe. ) Two good books on that subject are 'Iodine, why you need it, why you can't live without it by David Brownstein and 'Healing with Iodine, your missing link to better health' by Dr.Mark Sircus . Best wishes to all. Julia

It may be safe for YOU, but that does not mean it is for everyone. Tolerance is a very individual thing. There is no 'one size fits all' for vit D, any more than there is for thyroid hormone.
Dr Coimbra, the professor of neuroscience and the founder of the Vitamin D Protocol, is very clear that anyone taking high doses of vitamin D should have regular blood tests (PTH) and be monitored by a Coimbra-qualified doctor. They also need to reduce calcium intake and drink a lot of fluids. He does, however, advocate 10,000iu of vitamin D per day for most people. As he can prescribe over 200,000iu of vitamin D per day for patients with MS and other autoimmune conditions, it is important that patients are monitored.
No, there isn’t. There was one in Ireland but I don’t think that he is one any more. I hope that the following will show a map of all the Coimbra doctors:
Dr Coimbra has been treating autoimmune patients for years and is very successful yet he is virtually unknown here; why is that when he trains doctors free of charge (I understand) and there are trained doctors everywhere else in the world? I feel so sorry for all those with MS, I have a friend with PPMS who is virtually paralysed but we found out about Dr Coimbra too late, who may have been mobile had they known about the Coimbra Protocol.
I also take high dose Iodine (Lugol's 12%) which might interest other thyroid people. (Yes its safe. )
I am perfectly willing to believe that some people can take high dose iodine. (Though whether they should is another matter.)
However, I am even more convinced that, for some, even modest iodine supplementation has some very serious effects.
To write a blanket, unqualified and absolute statement that anything is safe, seems to me irresponsible. You are saying that anyone, anywhere can take high doses of iodine and there isn't even a vestige of doubt that it is perfectly safe for everyone?
Anything, from water through oxygen, things we think of as fundamental necessities of life, can be unsafe.
The medicine amiodarone consist very largely of iodine. The number of papers reporting issues (often thyrotoxicosis) in those taking amiodarone is significant.
I am allergic to it, I thought it blocked Thyroid as that's what I was given when I had a thyroid storm, . hyperthyroid!
in a trial lpaper on Pubmed for T3 10mgs they used lugols to block thyroid in healthy people then added 10mgs T3
, so personaly Im not convinced its ok although Im not sure if ok or not
It probably is good as NICE dont recommend it in thyroid also they do not recommend NDT. so do I tend not to believe NICE guidelines
it could work by blocking thyroid if you are replacing with T3 or T4 it must work like block and replace they use in some hyperthyroid . but they use carbimazole these days .
