Hi

Please can somebody decipher what these results mean.

I’ve had to have a test done privately as I still feel unwell despite being on 75 mg of thyroxine and my current dr says all is fine and doesn’t want to see me again for a year!

You are under-medicated. You need an extra 25 mcg - at least. All is not fine!

Your TSH is over-range at 5.3. Even the slowest most TSH-obsessed doctor should be able to see that. At the same time, your free T4 is under 20% through range and your free T3 is 25% through range.

You will feel better when TSH is less than 2 - probably less than 1 - and free T4 and free T3 are in the top third of the range.

Your high antibodies suggest Hashi's so you may also fee better if you try going gluten-free x

Thank you so much. I’m so worried as I know myself all is not ok. The local Spanish Drs are not interested so hence gong to a good private company. I have an appointment with a specialist in 2 weeks.

At least in Spain it is easy to buy levothyroxine from any chemist and very cheaply if the doctor refused to up your prescription. You definitely need to up it and your TSH needs to be a lot less if you have hashimotos.

Thank you.

It’s very disappointing that I have been trying to get my drs support for 10 months.

You can buy levothyroxine over the counter in Spain

Suggest you increase levothyroxine by 25mcg to 100mcg and retest again in 6-8 weeks

Important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 too

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

Multivitamins not usually recommended on here. Most contain iodine- not recommended when on levothyroxine

As fuchsia-pink say you are under medicated. Start on adding your current tablets to make 100mcg for at least 6 weeks and see how you feel.
