Shortage of activas

Why can’t I get my regular activas? I have been to 7 pharmacies. Is there a shortage? I don’t want Teva or Northstar brands as they have mannitol in which effects me. So now I have mercurypharma. We shall see !!!

I don’t want Teva or Northstar brands as they have mannitol in which effects me.

Northstar is Actavis rebranded for Lloyds Pharmacy, and Actavis is actually now rebranded as Accord.

The only Northstar dose which contains Mannitol is the 25mcg tablets and that dose is made by Teva rather than Actavis.

If you can get Almus (which is Actavis rebranded for Boots), Northstar (but not 25mcg), Actavis or Accord they're all the same tablets.

Possibly because it is no longer branded Actavis?

A few years ago, the company Accord took over the bit of Actavis that operated in Barnstaple and made Actavis levothyroxine. They have now re-branded it as Accord.

There is no known change in the product itself.

If you can't find even Accord, try Almus or Northstar which (in the 50 and 100 microgram dosages) are just re-branded Accord. It is ONLY the 25 microgram Northstar that contains mannitol.
