I appreciate i heard it before here ‘multi vitamins’ are not always suitable for hypo patients but my consultant wants me to take a prenatal leading up to my ivf and i am already on so many supplements (vit d,c,fishoild,q10,e,b12)
Found this vegan prenatal that has folate but also iodine.
I havent tested my vitamins in a while and wont get a test from go either. Consultant laughed it away and said just take ur prenatal and levothyroxine.
Kelp (a type of seaweed) can contain high levels of iodine, which sometimes makes an underactive thyroid worse. Do not take supplements containing kelp if you're taking levothyroxine.
It's not that multi vits aren't suitable for hypo/hashis... It's that they're not suitable for anyone!
That multi vit contains iron which will stop the absorption of all the other vitamins so it's a waste of your time and money.
You're better off checking the 4 mains ones; B12, Folate, Ferritin, and Vit D and supplementing specific ones if your deficient.
As well as iodine and iron, it also contains calcium, which will bind with the iron, so you won't be able to absorb either of those, either! Makes you wonder if these people ever did chemistry at school!
Doubtful you need calcium, anyway, and calcium supplements are not a good thing to take.
Plus, it contains copper. Hypos are usually high in copper, low in zinc. So, you should get your copper tested before taking any more.
