Private endo has prescribed 56 tablets of 2.5mcg liothyronine – how do I find a cheap supplier?

Please could someone message me if they know of an online retailer that could fill this prescription? I mentioned to her that I think 100 tablets of 20mcg is easier to obtain but she said she doesn't like people cutting up tablets. Thanks everyone!

The whole point of the 100 x 20 mcg tablet prescription is that nice cheap German lio comes in 20 mcg tablets ...

I was afraid of this. She told me to call her if I had problems. I guess I'm going to have to persuade her that I am good at cutting up tablets...?

I called a compounding pharmacy she recommended and they quoted me £108 for what is essentially one month's supply. I'm guessing that, like levo, you should really stick to the same brand, so even if I am willing to pay that now, it's not really the right thing unless I am willing to continue paying that much for it indefinitely, right?

I don't think I've often read about issues changing brand with lio ... I usually get Teva lio [note the Teva problems relate to the levo not the lio] but a few months back, got a different brand. Now back to the Teva - but had no problems switching back and forth.

On pricing, I think I read it's £30-odd for 100 German tablets .... but who knows what will happen after the Brexit transition period

Thanks fuchsia-pink, that's really helpful to know! You've been an absolute lifesaver for me since I started using this forum. Can't tell you how much I appreciate it. Btw I got my private endo to change the prescription to 90 tabs at 5mcg and found a couple of suppliers. Not as cheap as the German lio at 20mcg but since she's titrating me up I guess it's not going to be this expensive forever. She told me to drop down from 150mcg levo to 125mcg this week and then to 100mcg the following week before starting the lio. Do you have any thoughts on that? She's worried about sending me hyper

Awww [blushes]

Well done in getting your lio. I hope it works for you as it has for me :)

The reduction in levo sounds about right - and at least she's saying to go slowly! My endo just switched me in one big jump - took 50/75 mcg (alternate days) off levo and 40 mcg on lio - in one go. 6 weeks later, in a consultation that lasted less than 30 seconds, he halved the lio so I'm guessing the original dose was either a mistake or setting me up to fail [haha that didn't work!]
