I have phone app with Dr tomorrow. I got my bloods checked because I felt a shift in myself. Fatigue, very dry skin, muscle soreness and constipation. I called for results and was told they were " satisfactory" so I asked for them to be posted out see photo. Can someone please tell me what they think .thank you

For someone on T3 your FT3 is low in range only 43% through. I think it should be higher somewhere around 5.5 is where I'd be looking for mine to be.

I'm not on t3 anymore. I tried it because I never felt great on just levo. I felt great at first then my heart started to flutter alot so I stopped it.

Ok so your FT3 is lagging behind your FT4 with FT3 not even halfway through range while FT4 is up towards the top of its range.

It is probably the low FT3 that is causing your symptoms.

How are your vitamin levels. Improved levels might help conversion.

If you do decide to try T3 again - It does take time to adjust doses of levo and T3 when you start on combo. I would say you need a year to find where you feel best with FT4 levels and with FT3 levels.

Thanks. If I leave t3 ATM where is my T4 at? I'm on 100mg of levo, are my T4 levels ok?

It's not a case of ft4 being OK. It is a case of thyroid hormones - Ft3 and ft4-being optimal so we can get on with life fairly symptom free.

When you posted a few months ago your Vit D was too low, your ferritin was too low and your B12 was too low (poor you!).

Have any of those things been addressed?

Looks like you’re not converting very well. You could do with reintroducing the T3. Maybe take a lower dose and twice a day with 7hrs between. I too had dry skin and terrible fatigue amongst a load of other symptoms. As soon as I got my T4 and T3 balance right all my symptoms went. T3 needs to be much higher than your result, around 5.5 would give you more energy and your symptoms should fade. If your T4 is at the top of the range and you are only converting a low amount to T3 it looks fairly sure you have a conversion issue. This can cause low vitamins too of B12, D, ferritin and Folate but maybe not all, so I’d get those checked too and see if you can raise them to high in the ranges, just scrapping in the bottom of ranges is no good. We need them high to help converting.

Have you had the DIO2 gene test to check if you have the faulty gene. If not try this through Regenerus Laboratories. If positive, like myself, it would give you an answer as to why you’re a poor converter.

I will get that test done. When I brought it up to my endo he said they don't do that test

McPammy profile image

No the NHS doesn’t do it. You have to get it privately through Regenerus Laboratories

I was on 20 MCG of t3and I think 50 or 75 of levo. I panicked when I started getting symptoms and because it was the start of lockdown and that my endo had said don't get bloods checked at GPS because they will go by withing range and not my symptoms, I just self dosed on levo when I stopped t3. And now I feel so confused I don't know what to do , I know the Dr isn't going to listen to me and just say I'm within range or at the very least he may change levo dose, I don't know. All I know is I won't get the correct outcome from gp which leaves me self dosing if I go back on t3 and levo combo. I'm scared and so fed up feeling like shit and not getting answers from my Dr 😭😭

Oh my folate is 11.8 so yeah that's still low end. As range is 3.90 - 26.80

I m unsure with supplements for this as I m already jumping from constipation to diarrhea I don't know what to take. This is all just to much my anxious mind has had enough

Check your latest TSH. If it’s 2.5 or above you are hypo. Get a print out off your GP surgery. We are all entitled to this.

Did you take the 20mcg T3 in one hit. I only need 5mcg twice a day to bring me to the top of the range of T3 and only 75mcg Levothyroxine to get me to the top of that range. My private only Endocrinologist explained to me that any TSH over 2.5 is hypo. It needs to be about 1.00. Mine was 36 when first diagnosed.

Maybe your heart was racing as you took too much T3. Lower it and take twice a day at 7 hours apart and see how that feels. T3 has a half life of a few days. So if you do take in one hit you could find that part of the day you are ok then the other half of the day you’re not. My heart rate actually lowers if my levels go too high. A couple of weeks ago my resting heart rate went down to 42 I felt a bit dizzy too. I knew then my medication has gone over. The same can happen with T4 too for me. I had loads of test in a cardio ward. My heart is fine as soon as they lowered the thyroxine my heart rate returned to normal which is 57 for me resting.

Thanks. My TSH is 0.05mu/l the range is 0.27 - 4.20

Just spoke to my Dr and I'm going back on t3 10mcg twice daily and 50 levo. See how that goes.

Can u advice in my folate please? It's less than half of the range. But do t know how much to take to get just above half . I don't want to get constipated 😩

All four vitamins need to be OPTIMAL

Vitamin D at least around 80nmol and around 100nmol maybe better

Folate at least half way through range

B12 at least over 500

Ferritin at least half way through range

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

When were vitamin levels last tested

Were you taking your T3 as single dose?

Many of us need to split T3 into 3 doses per day

10mcg waking, 5mcg mid afternoon and 5mcg bedtime (roughly 8 hours gap)

Mdegnan42086 profile image
Mdegnan42086 in reply to SlowDragon

Yeah going to split it this time

Mdegnan42086 profile image

My b12 was 841pg/ml, range is 197- 771

Folate was 11.8ng/ml, range is

3.90-26.80ng/ml, so I want to increase this but not sure what supplement to buy.

They didn't check my vit d but the last time it was ok and I take it daily.

And they never checked ferritin. But I will get them checked and if I need to take it I will buy supplement. Again not sure what to buy.

So are theses the essential vitamins to take ?

Good you’re trying T3 again.

Sorry I can’t help with folate as I haven’t any issues myself with it. I do believe that vit c helps folate though. You could google it maybe.

Have you made any dietary changes? I found changing my diet had a huge impact on my symptoms (but funnily enough not a huge impact on my bloods - but who cares if you feel great!). I have hashimoto's and found gluten was a huge issue. I am now on the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) diet and all my symptoms have gone.
