Do I need ultrasound before being prescribed meds?

When getting a diagnosis did you have to have an ultrasound before getting meds or is it possible to start without?

I've never had an ultrasound and I've been diagnosed/prescribed Levo since 1975.

I've never had one either, NHS diagnosed Autoimmune Hypo by stupidly high and rising TPOab (antibodies) and slightly over range and rising TSH. 20 yrs ago.

But i never had a goitre or any throat symptoms. I get the impression it's not routinely done unless they are worried about goitres or lumps .

I have never been offered an ultrasound. Diagnosed hypothyroid 22 years ago.

I haven't any lumps but I do get a choking/throat closing up sensation.

Found out through Medichecks test 4 years ago that my thyroglobulin antibodies were in the 500s, so I have auto immune thyroid disease.

NHS has never tested for any antibodies. Nor vitamin levels either, for that matter.
