Hi I have just found out I have cysts on both my thyroid glands. My blood test came back 0.9 but I have lots of thyroid symptoms.

What should I do when I next see Dr

Are you in the U.K.

Approx age?

Thyroid disease often starts after hormonal changes....pregnancy, menopause,

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested.

Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease

Ask GP to test vitamin levels and thyroid antibodies

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

List of private testing options

Medichecks Thyroid plus vitamins including folate (private blood draw required)

Thriva Thyroid plus antibodies and vitamins By DIY fingerpick test

If you can get GP to test vitamins and antibodies then cheapest option for just TSH, FT4 and FT3

£29 (via NHS private service ) and 10% off if go on thyroid uk for code

Thank you. I am in the U.K. I’m 58. I have my blood tests but can’t really makes sense of them.

The Looks like I’ve had a TSH test which is 1.9mu/l (0.5 -4.4.

The ferretin level is 71ugi (12.0-300)

The GP says all my tests are normal.

I do take vitamin D and a liquid iron.

I have had a total hysterectomy and am on HRT.

When I lol at the symptoms of hypothyroidism I tick the box for everyone other than feel the cold.

The area in the left of my neck is tender but not all the time. It seems to be worse late afternoon when I am fatigue is bad.
