Ask your doctor to test iron and ferritin levels

Also vitamin D, folate and B12

Frequently very low

Low ferritin linked to hairloss

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Do you have Hashimoto’s?

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

So sorry for this it is awful - I had the same - I find my carpet full of hair.

This might help:

You also need to make sure you are not taking too much thyroid hormone or indeed not enough.

Same here, I have Hashimoto’s and my vitamin and iron levels are ok. Just don’t know what else to do. Hair falling out every day and regrowth not fast enough to replace. Only thing for me might be taking T3/T4 combo, but no guarantees. However getting docs to help is totally another thing. Endo last December didn’t say no when I asked, he said problem is with T3 would probably need to add more and more, haven’t been able to see or speak to him since.

I would definitely have your iron levels checked as well as your b12 level checked. I have battled hair loss on and off since I had my thyroid removed almost 19 years ago. It is very depressing to deal with I know. I also found adding a small dose of t3 with my naturethroid slowed my hair loss down as well as helped me stay warm in the winter (which was another big issue for me, I cried a lot in the winter from being so miserably cold all of the time).
