Anyone with a thyroid issue is recommended to make sure there vits etc are good as it helps and I would always suggest getting that in order first but how short that leaves you of taking prescribed meds I don’t know. But once I comfort my vitamins sorted I never looked back so I can say it’s well worth doing and keeping up to scratch.

Generally I wouldn’t suggest a complex. Best way it to get Vit D, B12, folate and Ferritin tested-ask GP. Then only supplement only the ones you are short of with a good brand. When you start just do one and then introduce any others 2 weeks from the previous one. That way if any upsets you then you know which it is. Be aware it can take time to get them optimal, I was low in Vit D and folate but VIT D was addressed quickly but folate took me a year but we are all different.

Hi. I have graves and I take the emergenC multi vit sachets probably about once a week. Really helpful through the winter especially. All my vit levels are within range. I do the blue horizon home thyroid test also about once a year to keep an eye on it. It’s just the Tpo antibodies I am struggling to bring down. Good luck. Alex

Hello Mprincip

I don't know quite where you are in your Graves journey but if you don't know of the Elaine Moore Graves Disease Foundation website you might like to dip in :

There are numerous sections and much research into alternative and holistic treatment options and extensive research into supplements that assist in the body's healing process.

Elaine has Graves and went through RAI in the late 1990's and finding no help with her continued symptoms started researching this poorly understood and badly treated AI disease herself, and wrote a book to help others who might be in a similar situation.

Roll on a good few years there are now several books and a web site open to all Graves sufferers with an open forum much like this amazing site where you can ask questions of the members and even of Elaine herself.

I too have Graves and went through RAI thyroid ablation in 2005, becoming very unwell some 8 years later, I bought Elaine's first book and then found myself on this amazing website and have managed to put myself back together again, a bit like Humpty Dumpty.
