My dr switched me to Synthroid instead of Levothyroxine because I’m losing my hair. If this is the cause of my hair loss, how long before I notice a difference? Thank you
Hair loss: My dr switched me to Synthroid instead... - Thyroid UK
Hair loss
Synthroid is levo by another name by and large. It might suit you better than what you have been taking. I would suggest you look at whether or not you are on an optimal dose as Ft3 and ft4 out of balance, too low are more likely to be the cause of your hair loss.
Or vitamin levels. Had them checked recently?
Important to regularly retest vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low ferritin is often linked to hair loss.
Post results and ranges if you have any
Zinc deficiency can be linked too
I went to see a trichologist about hair loss and he said it was due to taking levothyroxine and said my only course of action was to use Minoxidil. He didn't mention switching to Synthroid so I hope you have success.
FWIW - This article claims that patients are more likely to be inadequately treated when on generic, rather than Synthroid brand. hcplive.com/view/branded-le...
