Hi, I couldn’t find anywhere else to post it so posting here. I had a bad case of tonsillitis on my left tonsil about a month ago and was prescribed antibiotics. I didn’t finish the drinking them because I was feeling better. The white patches disappeared and the swelling gone down for the most part. I had happened a couple times again and again the antibiotics fixed it. Now I occasionally get a scratchy throat in the morning but it gets better after I drink some water. However I noticed that my left tonsil remains slightly enlarged. It’s not really big, just slightly bigger than the right. Everything online says it’s cancer and I’m kinda terrified as I have bad health anxiety. Anyone ever had anything similar happen?
Thank you and stay safe

Hi, I had tonsillitis chronically as a teenager and it’s left them both permanently enlarged.
After a nasty virus a couple of years ago I looked in my throat and noticed that one was larger than the other and googled it and of course then freaked out as your right everything says cancer! I saw the GP and she wasn’t worried so went to an ENT specialist privately, he put my mind to rest and told me it was actually quite common and he thinks that actually they are probably the same size but that one is sitting lower in the throat so looks smaller. He referred me for a MRI to double check no cancer and it was all clear.
If your worried insist on a referral for a scan but it’s probably going to be fine.
