I have recently requested blood tests as I have not been myself for some time. I have gained 2,5 stone in 1 year, I have severe fatigue, my mood is irrational etc, the list goes on. I asked to be emailed the results and they came back as:
T4 9.7
TSH 1.44
This falls in the 'normal' range but is it actually OK to have these levels? I so keen to feel better and find the issue.
Thanks

First can you add ranges to these results.....figures in brackets after each result
Ft4 looks very low
Just testing TSH and Ft4 is completely inadequate
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Ask GP to test vitamin levels and thyroid antibodies
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
