Hi, I haven't had a blood test in a while with everything going on and having my little boy. I was rung by surgery this morning and told:
T4 9.8
Serum Free 5.5
TSH 0.19
My test was at 10:40am, I hadn't eaten or had Levo the night before. I am alternating between 150mg and 100mg daily. The lady on the phone suggested I no longer needed to be on Levo and the GP would give me a ring in a few days to discuss. If anyone can please shed any light it would be much appreciated. I didn't think Hypothyroidism could just go away. Obviously when I have to go back at the beginning of Aug for more bloods I will ask for a print out to clarify everything. Thanks for any help/ advice in advance.

Oh jeez, spare us from these idiots please 🙄
This "lady on the phone" I assume is a receptionist or secretary, well she's not qualified to tell you that, but I suppose someone else (maybe the GP) told her to pass on that message.

No, it doesn't, unless it possibly temporary post-partum thyroiditis. If you have autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto's) then test results and symptoms fluctuate, you may need to adjust your dose of Levo, but it doesn't go away.
T4 9.8
Serum Free 5.5
TSH 0.19
Please ask for a print out of your results as this will include the reference ranges and then we can accurately comment on them.
My guess is that your TSH is below range and so they think either you are hypERthyroid or you've been cured (impossible), remind them that Levo doesn't work like an aspirin does for a headache. The Levo is to replace your thyroid hormone which you don't make enough of yourself (hence your diagnosis of hypothyroidism).
Your T4 9.8 - presumably Free T4 (FT4) isn't likely to be over range, or is that Total T4?
Re: T4. I'm not sure to be honest. She didn't want to give me results over the phone. I will find out when they ring in a few days.
I def have Hashimotos. Was trying for a baby for many many years then found out high antibodies etc. Thanks for your help. I'm assuming they will lower my dose of Levo from 150mg which is fine. I will ask for a print out when I go in at the beginning of August for further bloods. I didn't think it would simply 'go away' but hoped it was a possibility after having my little one. Will re-post when I find out more. Thank you so much
Thanks SlowDragon, I hate it when the don't properly give you results over the phone (as in levels). I'm only taking vitamin D supplements to be honest. I was taking iron supplements a while back but I ran out. I used to be so good at taking everything whilst I was pregnant and in trying to get pregnant but now I've let things slide.
I always get the same brand of Levo.
Thanks, am getting a phone call from a GP on Friday. I will say that I don't want a dose reduction till the other tests are done. I suspect he/ she will just reduce them anyhow. I have further tests booked beg of Aug prior to an MRI. Have you heard of people losing hearing in 1 ear relating to thyroid? Thanks for info. Will keep notes next to me when they call and ask for further test/test results or print out. Much appreciated. I don't have much faith in them and their understanding of this to be honest. I had to get all my initial tests done privately to be told it was Hashimotos as NHS wouldn't even give me 25mg of Levo. Thanks for your help
