Thyroid cyst

Hello

Can a cyst on a thyroid cause bronchiectasis? I have a 1 inch by 1 inch (approx) cyst on my thyroid gland, I have shortness of breath and cough up a really sticky phlegm with great difficulty. I cant find a link on Google. I am going to have a CT scam (I dont know when)

I also catch colds each year that go straight to my chest.

If you have a severe swelling in you thyroid it’s can result it swallowing difficulties. Do you ever feeling like you are choking when eating? It’s not always obvious apparently.

This will result in your food being aspirated into your lungs & infections. The lungs being sensitive to the presence of food & stomach acids, can trigger inflammation leading to bronchiectasis.

I dont have any problems swallowing but I do find, if I try to cough up phlegm it gets stuck in my throat and almost impossible to cough it up.
