Has Anyone Gone Rapidly Downhill On The New 3 Grain Nature Throid?

I have experienced a drop in temperature back to 35.9 after being stable for a few years now. I am also getting a nerve type prickling in my hands and feet, and terrible body pain in my muscles and joints. It's so painful I've had to take gabapentin to sleep. Other symptoms running eyes and nausea. I have put a stone on during the last year, my diet hasn't changed at all.

I have an " old" bottle of 11/2 grains which I took for two days and the nerve pain improved. Yesterday morning I took the 3 grains again with half a tablet from the "old" bottle. Last night I was in so much pain, plus restless legs I had to get up and didn't get back to bed until 4am when some gapapentin kicked in.

Is anyone finding an NDT that works?

Hey Helcaster 😄

If you look at related posts when your post comes up quite a few of us have commented on the 'new' Nature Throid. It was available in small grain sizes some while ago. I have an almost unused bottle of 'new' Nature Throid 1.5 grains; I had to come off that pronto and find something else...I was feeling very poorly and it happened very quickly. £90 gone South. Looky : healthunlocked.com/thyroidu... you are not alone.

I went on Thyroid-S and am dismayed to see it isn't presently available - on back order my stockist says. It's also gone from 1000 bottles to 500 bottles and guess what? The freaking price is the same for 500 as it was for 1000. MY DH encouraged me to stock up once I figured it was working, so I have a reasonable supply. If I die before I'm 64, I'll be OK 🤣 I also take 25mcg T3 which I have been getting from Greece but appears more difficult to get this every year we go...my May sojourn is outstanding for refund from loveholidays ( bunch of creeps) and October's visit to Kos looking a bit dodgy, too...

Maybe my earlier substance abuse has left me paranoid, but it appears to me that slowly slowly, every avenue to source and use an alternative to filthy useless (for me) levo is being withdrawn/witheld/discontinued.

I'm so sorry for your struggle. Hugs to you - my champion at my time of need. Big hugs, Missus

Thank you for your reply Rapunzel. I only just re joined this site yesterday, so I'm not up to speed on this problem yet. I just don't know what to do, I've been taking T3 with NDT for years now, and it was really working well. I still had some symptoms but much easier to tolerate, my temps were a constant 37 degs too. Looking online it seems all the American NDT's have gone down the pan. I contacted a compounding pharmacy a couple of days ago, but no reply as yet. Some people think it's because it has calcium in the filler, or maybe it's the coating, it may not be dissolving due to low acid in our stomachs. I bought two 3 grain bottles recently, I was taking 2x11/2 tablets before. I thought I was doing OK on this older batch, when I think about it hip, neck and shoulder pain was coming back, and trigger finger when I was using my hands a lot. I've put on a stone in the last year.

There's the new Thai one Tru Thyroid which I know nothing about. Does this have availability problems I wonder?

Like you I am sick if the stress of sourcing, ever increasing prices with self medicating. Levo didn't work in 2 years for me, never raised my temps, didn't resolve any symptoms, didn't raise my FT3.

Hugs to you too.

I too have found Nature Throid not to be the same as when I first started to dose with it about four years ago . I then moved on to NP and found that it's also not working as well as it used to .In fact NP volunteerally recalled some of the doses . I'm afraid that all the NDT/DTE have reformulated and are not working for us as they used to. I switched now to synthetic T3 and it seems to work . Lets hope they don't change them too.

Hi Jgellies, Thanks for replying. You have had an awful time. I heard that NP had been recalled, doesn't instill much confidence does it.

I have some T3, how are you dosing? I tried before years ago with Mexican T3 and it wasn't much of a success, I'm sure there were potency issues just before it ceased production. Willing to give it another go with Tiromel.

I have ordered Tru Thyroid this morning, but it's a two to three weeks wait. My hypo symptoms are awful.

I'm so sorry your going through tough times. I lost confidence in the NDT/DTE. It was a Blessing for so many of us when it was good . Once it went south I had no choice but to try to make T3 work for me as best as possible. I'm not a good converter from T4 to T3 so therefor I do need some T3 to feel optimal as best as possible . I had TT and not having my own thyroids. I now depending on my thyroid from a bottle/bottles.

Try and see if nutrients can help you . Vitamin "D" K/2, B-complex , B-12/folate, magnesium, Iron if you test low, selenium ,zinc, vitamin "C", Celtic Sea Salt for adrenals/electrolytes. I found that these nutrients help me. For some reason I did not do well with selenium . Zinc be careful with it can lower your cortisol if you don't need to.

Best Wishes.

Hi Jgelliss, thank you for reply. I can understand your reluctance to take NDT again. I'm giving it one last shot because it's what I'm most familiar with. I still have to add some T3.

I have been taking zinc throughout the Covid 19 crisis, at night, when my tested cortisol is at it's highest. But I'll reduce it now. My iron is always low, I've been supplementing recently, but can't tolerate a lot of it. I eat eggs for breakfast, and I eat red meat, green vegetables etc but with interstitial cystitis, I'm always losing a little blood each day. Selenium I haven't taken for years, so I've ordered that, I have high thyroid antibodies. I was gluten free until 10 months ago, and I just got fed with it, but I know I need to back to that too. I'm supplementing folate, I have weekly B12 injections, I supplement vitamin D too, all of the above have been very low for me from time to time. I take magnesium daily, I use sea salt in cooking, I'll look into Celtic sea salt.

Thank you again for your helpful reply. I hope you continue to do well on T3.
