New one: Hi I have graves disease going on... - Thyroid UK
New one
Hello new one. Welcome
I am much the same as you, and wading through the muck to try and regain health while working and pretending I’m ok when I’m far from it.
Hopefully you’ll find help and answers here. I wish you good health. X
Welcome to the forum
Do you always get same brand of levothyroxine?
Do you have any recent blood test results and ranges to add?
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially with Graves’ disease
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking?
Ask GP to test vitamin levels
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

Hello Sj2390
I'm with Graves Disease and had RAI thyroid ablation in 2005, and found this site a few years ago and am now so much better.
Do you have any blood tests to share with us ?
If not you'll need to get some as detailed below by SD :
You might know of the Elaine Moore Graves Disease foundation website ? Elaine too had RAI for Graves and finding no help with her continued symptoms wrote a book to help others who might be in a similar situation. Roll on a good few years and there are now several books and a very well respected, researched website on all things Graves for Graves patients world wide to use and there is also an open forum much like this amazing forum where you can ask questions of the forum members and we all learn from each other.
Welcome, you will receive help, just like I did, a few years back, and you'll also learn a lot by simply reading other peoples questions and replies.
