Hi everyone,
During my early 20s I would only occasionally have a drink, usually a small white wine. Often time when I did, I would develop an intense cramping like pain in my neck and be unable to swallow. I assumed alcohol didn’t agree with me and just didn’t drink much.
I didn’t realise at the time but I now realise I developed thyroid related symptoms from at least 25 and was finally diagnosed at 29. I’m now 30; from 25-30 I drank a little more often, but I didn’t really have such a symptom in the neck.
This week, I’ve not been drinking but have developed the feeling of cramp in the neck. My endo upped my NDT from 90 mg to 120mg and I’m wondering if that could be a factor?
I’m wondering if my thyroid hormones where high in early 20s before developing hashis mid 20s (TSH was in the 100s upon diagnosis) and now my levels are getting right again... maybe something is happening? I don’t know but it’s incredibly painful when it happens, like Someone is squeezing the inside of my neck.
Has anyone else had this? X
