This paper using rats shows that T2 in substantial amounts can both stimulate body metabolism and also exert an effect on the pituitary to give central hypothyroidism. No doubt we humans never achieve that level of T2 but the paper serves as a warning over too much T2 in the body. It's open access

Very interesting, especially the bits about diiodinase's. Thankyou diogenes.

Although , as usual, i got boggley eyes and a headache just when it was getting interesting.

And then i start feeling sorry for the rats. I'd happily offer myself up for experimentation with thyroid hormones , (or even bits of thyroid hormones !) and let the furry ones retire.
