Hi all, I was just wondering if any knows why Murcury phama T3 is so difficult to get hold of?
I was originally given it by the hospital pharmacy but my endo has asked my Drs to deal with the repeat prescription. My usual chemist are saying they cannot get it. I've been to 4 chemists today trying to find it as the other brands I've tried (Teva and Morning side make me feel awful). The last chemist have ordered what they are hoping will be Murcury Phama but can't guarantee it will be and said if it isn't Murcury Phama I will still have to have it as they won't put it back on their shelves!
It's so frustrating, finally find a combination that suits me after a year and a half and now I'm struggling to get it!!
Anyone else having these issues?

I almost always suggest contacting the company themselves. It means you are at least getting their view and, if there is no issue, you have something to tell the pharmacists you deal with.

Boots is the chemist who usually deal with my prescriptions, they say they can't get it at all, however the last chemist I tried was boots in the next town. They have ordered what they think is Murcury pharma so will find out later!
Hi Hookie01 - I'd suggest going to an independent pharmacy as I've been having issues with the chains (Boots, Rowlands etc) myself. I've recently been given Mercury Pharma liothyronine so it is out there. I think I finally have both levo and lio sorted out as the chains kept giving me brands I was allergic to, despite it being on my script
Hi Helen, I have just been to pick up my prescription and surprise surprise its teva! even though the man clicked on Mercury Pharma! I just don't get it.
I have just left a message for my Endo to call me as I now don't have a prescription as they won't take them back! Think I might just buy Armour to try, have been wanting it for ages and quite frankly seems like an easier option. Just feel so deflated and unwell right now, just want to cry!
I have had trouble for over a year trying to get Mercury Pharma which is specified on my prescription. Boots used to be able to get it then suddenly could only get Teva and Morningside. Tesco then managed to get it for me for a few months then again couldn't guarantee it. Lloyds then got it for me for some time but recently could only get me Morningside which isn't good for me but better than Teva which I can't tolerate at all. Then a couple of weeks ago they could only get Teva. I tried all the others again who also could only get Teva. I finally managed to get some through my GP pharmacy . They normally give me a paper prescription only and I have to source my own. I think this stems from when I was first prescribed them at 5mcg and they could not get them. Anyway I was so grateful and asked them to dispense them for me in future which they said wasn't a problem. So hopefully it won't be a problem from now on fingers crossed. They are out there but so difficult to get.
This used to drive me insane and make me feel unwell when the pharmacist would give me whatever t3 they had.
I get a named patient basis prescription for T3 and ask the pharmacist to specifically get the brand from the wholesalers I want, so I always get the same. I always check at the wholesalers if they got my brand of T3 in, so no messing from pharmacist. They did pull a stunt once and ordered a different brand of cynomel and I refused it right there in the chemist. They had to keep it and absorb that cost, then they reordered what I needed. Their decision backfired on them, they won't do it again because I'll ask for my prescription back and walk out. Always check in chemist your meds and if it's not what you want or can tolerate do not accept it. That prescription is valuable it's your money your spending from your taxes you've paid in over the years. So you get the medicines that work for you not what's convenient for them to stock and dish out.
