"Patient UK" Are they OK?

I had an email this morning from this organisation. I don't remember ever hearing of them or contacting them before.

From their website they seem legit. but I am always suspicious of non-requested messages.

This is all I could discover about them: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patie...

Patient UK has been around for a long time and I believe they have the Information Standard which means their info is of good quality. Strange that they should have contacted you. Perhaps you joined their email list without realising?

Are there any links in the email? If so, don't click on them, but try hovering your mouse pointer over them to see where they would take you to.

The actual email address is theirs and the only links are to a C-19 symptom checker tool and stuff like that.

I think they must be OK.

Patient UK is genuine, good source of info.

Yes Patient UK is genuine. But I've had emails purporting to be from all sorts of apparently genuine businesses etc that are actually spam/phishing behind the scenes. It's amazing how good at cloning the serious spammers can be. So hovering over links is one way to check them out :)

Yes, I've learned to be suspicious too.

Most likely I did sign up some time and forgot.

One of my previous G.P.'s used to print pages from their site and give them to me when he had diagnosed me with something new. It saved him having to explain everything to me.

I did too... entitled “COVID-19 service update”. I don’t remember ever signing up to them, even though at the bottom of the email it states: “You have received this service communication since you have registered to use Patient.”

The information contained within it appears genuine though.

Ooh, I didn’t realise that. Thank you.😀

Are you sure that the message is really from them - check the message headers. If it was unsolicited, just delete it. I certainly wouldn't click on any links in an unsolicited message.

Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that may only apply in England.

Well... I'm in Wales. 😉

Lovely place to be :) So are confirming that you are indeed signed up to Patient UK by default? Did you get the email from them?

I guess so. My GP’s practice is in Wales and I’m signed up to their online service, although the only thing I can do online is order repeat prescriptions and usually book appointments, but this is currently not available.

I'm in Wales too! What area?

Montgomeryshire!

I'm in West Glamorgan. Too far away to visit then ;-)

They weren't any links with an address on, just coloured parts (don't know what you call them - tabs?) to click on.

For example, the bolded "Here" in this sentence. "If you are not currently a Patient Access user and would like to register for the service, you can do so here. This service is for UK residents only."

We often call them buttons even if they are nothing like any real buttons! It has become a term applied to anywhere you can click and something happens.

I am sure there are numerous other terms. Indeed, sometimes people just refer to hyperlinks meaning absolutely anything you can click on and jump somewhere.
