Since my gp is not prepared to help me or start me on medication, im thinking about trying to source NDT , below is my results again, confirmed hashimotos tpo 430(0-6) . Any thoughts on if this would be a good idea?

Before considering do that, as per previous post
healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...
It was recommended you improve very low folate, low B12
Get vitamin D tested
1000iu is frequently too low a dose of vitamin D with hashimoto’s
Other supplements to consider
Selenium
Vitamin C
Zinc
Trying strictly gluten free diet frequently helps too
Hi again slow dragon
I took ur advice and started the b complex today along with my vit c and d.
Im just so frustrated that my gp wont do anything when im showing symptoms.
I do appreciate your advice i just wondered if there was anymore i could do
While still eating high gluten diet get coeliac blood test online for under £20, just to rule it out first
Assuming test is negative you can immediately go on strictly gluten free diet
(If test is positive you will need to remain on high gluten diet until endoscopy, maximum 6 weeks wait officially)
Trying strictly gluten free diet for 3-6 months
If no noticeable improvement, reintroduce gluten and see if symptoms get worse

In my experience, it takes about 6 months for vitamin improvement to make a difference to symptoms so best to persevere. You really don't want to take thyroid hormone if you don't need to. Thyroid symptoms are often indistinguishable from low vitamin levels it seems. You might feel frustrated by the doctor but he/she is trying to do the right thing for you. Thyroid hormone is not a quick fix either even when you need it. It can take months to balance.
Id prefer not to have thyroid hormone treatment if possible, but its very confusing when some say it needs treated and others say try supplements first. Im not currently unwell with it, just a few symptoms ie fatigue, hair loss, lump in throat sensation but im hoping the b complex might give me a bit of a boost. I do have low folate, ferritin and lowish b12.i do Appreciate everyones advice x
Hair loss might be related to low ferritin or another reason. My TSH has been above 11.0 and FT4 and FT3 below range but no hair loss. I sympathise with you as hairloss is frustrating.
Slowdragon has given good advice on improving gut health. Unfortunately, to get well there's no quick fix, it's making lots of small changes and maintaining it that helps but it took me about 2 years to figure out how to stay well and on track. I don't have Hashimotos but have other antibodies and lost most of thyroid to cancer. I realise we're all different but if I didn't have to take levothyroxine I wouldn't.
Oh im very sorry, glad your feeling well again. I know its not going to be a.quick fix , i wish it was lol its all trial and error.
Nanaedake is absolutely right ....it can take any months for symptoms to slowly improve
Suggest you retest FULL thyroid and vitamins say 8-10 weeks after last supplement added and minimum of 12 weeks after going absolutely strictly gluten free
Seeing improvements in blood test results can inspire you to keep going, its likely taken years for gut function to get out of balance ....it’s not a quick fix .....even if you do eventually end up on levothyroxine, these steps still need doing FIRST
Reading up as much as possible about Hashimoto’s....it’s primarily a disease of the gut for many patients
The other thing is, i was always told i suffered acid reflux. I ended up in hospital a few years back and they decided it was an ulcer. From then i was put on omeprazole. I stopped taking it this year and just now take gaviscon as and when required instead of omeprazole everyday. But i read thyroid usually is linked to low acid where as ive always had high
No .....your GP misdiagnosed it as high acid ....almost always even more misdiagnosed than hypothyroidism
High acid and low acid have virtually identical symptoms...very different treatment
At least you are ahead of the curve in that you know that it’s low stomach acid

Ppi like Omeprazole lowers vitamin levels even more than just being hypothyroid
Likely been hypothyroid since acid reflux started
Low vitamins frequently results in lower TSH ....and since most medics only look at TSH.
Omeprazole will frequently lower vitamin levels further
I didnt feel omeprazole was doing anything for me so told the gp there is no point shoving more medication into my system that i dont need. Bicarbonate soda works more effectively, january i had an appointment at the hospital where i had the camera inserted through my nose to my throat to see if anything was causing this lump sensation and again the specialist said it was down to reflux and doubled my omeprazole. Needless to say it was also a waste of time
They love to say “lump in throat” is psychological and due to anxiety
Your TSH looks pretty low and I agree with others you are better off addressing low vitamin levels. You don’t want to be taking hormones if you don’t need them, you can really cause some damage otherwise.
Fatigue and hair loss are classic low iron/ferritin symptoms by the way.
Is tsh not better if its lower? Yes im going to try vitamins, folate was also low at 3 (3-20) my ferritin was 56 (15-200) b12 is 317 (187-800)
Yes correct, but yours is fine. When I started medication my TSH was 14. Anything below 2 is considered ok. Your symptoms are likely to be vitamin deficiency related.
My folate is pretty much deficiency as its just sitting on the low range. My ferritin could do with being increased too so fingers crossed. It just concerned me with low t3 and t4. Thank you
