Looking for advice on new results

So i have experienced hyper symptoms since March 2019. My tsh has consistently been <0.05. Ft3 and ft4 always in normal range.

On the advice of endocrinologist i started taking 5mg carbimazole daily in November. No change to my tsh.

Had bloods taken in Feb 2020

14th Feb 2020

Tsh <0.05 (0.27 - 4.20)

F T4 12.6 (12 - 22)

F T3 4.8 (3.1 - 6.8)

Spoke to a different endocrinologist who advised me to stop taking Carbimazole for 6 weeks in order to have an uptake scan done.

I have been off my meds now for 6weeks and had my bloods taken yesterday. Doc called me today with the results..

31st March 2020

Tsh 0.31 (0.27 - 4. 20)

Free T4 12.1 (12 - 22)

So after being off carbimazole my tsh has now increased for the first time in a year. Has anyone else seen this happen and what does it mean?

I had my antibodies checked last year and they were fine so said it was not graves 🤷‍♀️

Hey there again Wavingordrowning

From memory am I right in thinking that you were proved negative for Graves and Hashimoto's, that this happened after the birth of both your children, but this time you were prescribed Carbimazole ?

These last results look good as far as it goes, more importantly - how do you feel ?

TSH can be very slow to respond, though you now you see it register as in range but it's the T3 and T4 that need to be measured and monitored : As things stand your result looks good, considering you have been on AT drugs, and think your own thyroid hormone production will start to build and find stability in the coming weeks.

I'd try to stay off the AT drug, and play for time, and see what happens :

Maintain your strength and maintain ferritin, folate B12 and vitamin D at optimal levels.

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Have you had BOTH TPO AND TG ANTIBODIES tested for Hashimoto’s??

Low vitamin levels are extremely common,

Ask GP to test vitamin levels and always get actual results and ranges

Never had reply to question on previous post of actual vitamin results 5 months ago

You may need to get full Thyroid testing privately as NHS refuses to test TG antibodies if TPO antibodies are negative

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

For thyroid including antibodies and vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

Your FT4 is currently far too low ....
