What can we all do to spread some positivity?

I am a woman in my 70's, living in the U S. I am on this site because I, along with my husband and daughter, have hypothyroidism. Here in the U S, we are just starting into the reality of this pandemic. The crazy thing here is that drastic measures are being taken in some states...measure that are certainly needed... and not in others...no thanks to our government...don't get me started! That being said, the reality of the Covid 19 spread is getting real. Like most here, I have had the news on, listening for any updates. I check my computer for any spread within my area...on and on. I realized yesterday that I was getting swept into this black hole of fear. I really do try to be a positive individual, but I have not been practicing this for a few days now. I am healthy, but after days of listening to all that's going on, I was starting to feel...not so well.

I would love to think that on this site, we could include a few posts of positive ideas that we can do for our own mental health and the mental health of our neighbors near and far. Many of us are practicing "social distancing", so what positive thought or actions can we spread, even when confined to our homes? Here are a few I quickly came up with...turn off the news and put on your favorite music. Give yourself a little dance party and dance like no one is watching. Pull out that book that you couldn't wait to read, but has been collecting dust, 'cause you couldn't find the time to read. Give your friends and relatives a quick call, to just let them know you are thinking of them...no negative talk!! Get outside or just open your window and look around...sky, trees, birds...yup, they are all still there!

Here in the U S, there is a site called NEXTDOOR. You sign up in just your immediate area, to be able to stay up on current activities and anything important that may take place in and around your area. Just this week, healthy young adults have been posting offers to get groceries and supplies for elderly, who are afraid or incapable of going out. They have also been offering their time in other ways. Such a great positive action.

Lastly, as we wake up every morning, we can offer a THANK YOU that we have another day!

I find many of the Functional Docs in the US have positive news within their websites and Newsletters. Also thoughts away from mainstream medicine or Expert opinions !. Check out the websites of the following .

Dr Kelly Brogan - latest video - Dr David Brownstein - Dr Chris Kresser - Dr Alan Christiansen and many more - John Bergman too ...

Am in the USA too . I lived through two situations like this whilst living in Hong Kong before relocating to the US. Start each day with gratitude 🙏 connect with what each day brings and shift through it. My family in South Africa deal with COVID,. Many days have no power so can't shop in bulk even whilst living in Johannesburg a big city. Often also have no water. We have a lot to be thankful for in the US.

Oh Liyaelize, you are so right. We have SO much to be thankful for. My heart aches for all the number of countries that have all of these struggles, besides the worry of getting sick.

One of my sons traveled through South Africa a couple years ago. He said it was the trip of a lifetime.

I’m in the US and I’m currently locked inside my house mostly because I take immunosuppressive drugs and my psoriatic arthritis has been trying to rip my legs apart and I’m doing good...No kids to look after.

I’m also in the middle of a huge kitchen remodel that started before the Coronavirus and RIGHT NOW my tile guy showed up in a mask, seriously and he assured me it for precaution but yesterday he was mask free, 🤔. Am I panicking NO please I’m happy this project is almost over it’s been the most expensive and worse experience ever.... lol .....it’s beautiful though!

In my opinion our Gov’t has done a very good job giving the magnitude of this virus and the amount of mystery that has surrounded it and yes things could have been smoother but we are dealing with the unknown and need to just chill!

Follow me here: Sitting on the beach 🏖 watching the dolphins 🐬 jumping out of water with a margarita 🍹 in one hand and a good book 📖 in the other and getting a tan.... come on summer!

Batty1 , I've got to hand it to you...doing a kitchen remodel and staying put because of covid19 has got to take a lot out of you! I'm an interior designer and I've worked with a ton of clients who get into the middle of a remodel and wish they had never started. You'll be so happy when it's completed and you can enjoy your new kitchen. Let us see some pictures when you're done.

Totally agree with... come on summer!
