Any advice?

I posted here before after a tooth extraction. I just wanted to ask if it’s normal for my gum not to close over within two weeks after a dental extraction as it was a larger tooth and it was difficult and extremely painful to remove... I also had an infection before and got told to leave it for 48 hours to see if it would go on it’s own and it didn’t so I was given a 5 day course of antibiotics

I had a large lower molar extracted on 28th January, quite difficult as it was more filling than tooth so filling had to be removed first, then the tooth had to be removed in two parts as there were two roots, and the gum had to be cut slightly as well. It has taken 4 weeks for the gum to fully close over the socket and heal completely.

As you have also had an infection, I doubt very much whether complete healing would take place within two weeks. You really should speak to your dentist - he is the expert, there are no dental experts here on the thyroid forum.

Check with your dentist of course, but a lot of thyroid patients struggle to recover from significant dental surgery. Thyroid replacement has to be truly optimal for the individual, along with recovery from years of hormone loss and under-replacement.

I've come to realise that the recovery may never be fully achieved in some people, myself included, and that may be reflected in slow healing. I've had extractions, repeated root canal work and an implant. The implant wiped me out for about three months.
