Pros and Cons.

I'm wondering if anyone can be of help to me please. I have a rather difficult situation going on here and I am due for a full body scan (C.T) and a operation on my mouth mid March) However the contrast agent they want/will be using is Iodine 350. Today I was refused the scan by a young lady because she told me that it was rubbish (I kid you not, but that is what she said) so I now have an appointment for the 5/3/20 instead. The question I have is this. If I was to take the Iodine 350 IV what affect would it have on my Thyroid? and I do have an appontment with my local DR tomorrow but that will like talking to a plank as per usual *face palm* so if anyone could help me weigh up the pros and cons for taking the Iodine that would be great. Also what should I expect? Hyper? (ok that makes 3 questions, sorry)

They gave me a blood test to check my creatine and that was 43.9 (4.86 - 90.2) which was of no great shock as one of kidneys is out of whack - that's MS related though.

Thank you replying Wetsuiter the radiologist & now my Doctor are saying that it doesn't affect the thyoid. They know full well my medical history so I'm in a pickle to say the least. I do have Hashimotos, and I'm not getting anywhere. :( and I'm very worried.

I think it would have an affect on your thyroid. I use a thyroid guard if I even have an x-ray because I have a multinodular goitre.

Here is a link about it ... sorry it is old.

Thank you for replying Lora7again and for the links. I have read them and this is what I'm worried about. As they are going to inject me with an awful lot of iodine, but my Doctor has said it's just a load of rubbish. I'm drawing dead ends where ever I go. :( It will be a C.T scan not an X-ray so the Iodine will be via and I.V.

How are you kidneys? Most literature seems to state that your kidneys will process and excrete the iodine within 24 hours.

i dont actually know anything about this though.
