Any ideas dispensed and delivered today. Pharmacy know I ask for specific brands not Teva which gives me terrible headaches. Thanks in advance if you can help.

Dear KittyAO,

I am on Tacrolimus, in the form of ADVAGRAPH, which IS important- the Dissolution Times are different, if it is Not this 'form'. My Consultants, and my GP/ Pharmacy, are well aware of this and Make Sure, my Drug, IS in this form. You need, to find, a 'Form' of Your Drug that agrees with you.... then ask, Your Doctors, to ensure you get this. Once a 'Note' is made, on your Medical Notes, there shouldn't be any more 'Trouble'.

With 'Drugs' coming in, from the World over, this is an advisable Step KittyAO. If you haven't already, you need to see your GP/ Doctors, as soon as possible.

Wishing you well KittyAO

It looks like Wockhardt brand, this is the only brand I can use, Best thing to do is speak to your doctor and tell them to put the brand you prefer on your prescription that way the pharmacy can only give you that brand :)

Wockhardt 25 microgram tablets have TX25 on one side and CP on the other.

Mercury Pharma (Advanz). Patient Information Leaflet (PIL), which includes information about imprint (debossing) here:

medicines.org.uk/emc/produc...

Did you not get a Patient Information Leaflet with them?

I suggest that you always ask for one. The pharmacy must provide one and it must be for the product dispensed.

Remember: The PIL might have been updated - so you should get one every time.

Thanks Helvella, really appreciate your reply. I was surprised when I got home and had been dispensed tablets in a brown bottle with their 30 minute no food or caffeine warning on the label. I am normally sent Mercury Pharma or Actavis in branded packets. I intend to ring and gently chastise them as the Pharmasist is usually very helpful. Thank you once again.

I know how easy it is to say after the event, but do check before you leave the counter in future! :-)

If no PIL is present, ask for one before you accept it. Remember to check card outer is are sealed - or make sure you check inside as well.

Thanks established they are Mercury Pharma supplied in 1000 loose tablets as they can only get Teva. I understand about the leaflet and always query at the counter but these were delivered as I was out of town. Thank you and for all you do for everyone on this site.

Pleased you now know what is what. :-)

I call that out as being unacceptable - not supplying a PIL.

Are you really expectecd to get them delivered, then have to ring up and ask for a PIL. I assume they would not be happy at having to deliver that as well!

If they are delivering, in my view, that makes supplying a PIL imperative!

(Maybe it isn't too much of a problem for you to call in and pick up a PIL. Obviously, it is for some and that might be why they request delivery in the first place.)

Hi Kitty,

Liothyronine always used to be dispensed in a brown bottle years ago, but never heard of Levothyroxine being dispensed this way - did it even have the name of the tablets on the bottle?

Thanks for all your comments and help. The tablets are Mercury Pharma according to my pharmacy who received them as a bottle of 1,000 tablets and are dispensing them 28 tablets at a time to me in a generic brown bottle as they requested MP for me rather than Teva, which are the only other tablets they are carrying. Appreciate all your help was just worried they were Teva and were being provided to me without id so that I wouldn't query.

It does happen from time to time. The Patient Information Leaflets often identify that the product is available in large bottles (or whatever they are called).

Insist on the brand that you can tolerate. It makes all the difference to how you feel. Best of luck. Stay strong.
