looking at previous posts, you only just started on adding T3 to levothyroxine

It can’t be rushed

As you have Graves’ disease, it’s extremely common to have low vitamin levels. Have you had vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested

Add results and ranges if you have them

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking?

Vitamin levels need to be optimal, especially on T3

As you have Graves are you on strictly gluten free diet?

Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms and help gut heal

While still eating high gluten diet ask GP for coeliac blood test first or buy test online for under £20, just to rule it out first

Assuming test is negative you can immediately go on strictly gluten free diet

(If test is positive you will need to remain on high gluten diet until endoscopy, maximum 6 weeks wait officially)

Trying strictly gluten free diet for 3-6 months

If no noticeable improvement, reintroduce gluten and see if symptoms get worse

Can take 1-2 years to refine the dose and timings

Vitamin levels need to be optimal

No you still have Graves’ disease, just don’t have the thyroid left.

Many, many people with Graves or hashimoto’s find strictly gluten free diet helps or is essential

Low vitamin levels are extremely common. These need testing regularly and frequently need supplements to improve to optimal levels

Ask GP to test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

Or test via Medichecks or Blue horizon

Graves is an auto immune disease that attacks the thyroid.

Your thyroid is the victim and not the cause - the cause is your own immune system.

mistakenly attacking your body.

Graves attacks the thyroid and it can be considered life threatening, so some people suggest removing the thyroid to reduce the debilitating symptoms.

Graves is in your body and in your DNA, and it is your own immune system mistakenly attacking your thyroid.

By having your thyroid part/fully removed you will have had the majority of the antibodies removed but Graves thrives on stress and anxiety and you will need to ' look ' at your current situation and maybe consider life style and diet changes.

T3 is a very powerful thyroid hormone and please ensure your body is strong enough to take and utilise this thyroid hormone. Ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D must all be high in the ranges to accommodate and fully utilise any thyroid hormone replacement.

Hi Tamina, how long were you on Novo? I'm going through your posts, all seem very recent. Also, when you were 4 weeks on 75+15 Novo, did you start taking it all at straightaway and did you split the pill, took half for a couple of weeks etc. ?

I took the whole dose because before was taking half of novothyrol with 25 levothyroxine and t4 t3 was low and tsh high then start taking full novothyral and my t4 t3 in range but tsh suppressed and start getting shaky after 6 weeks in full novothyral

in reply totamina786

Ok, how long did you take half of Novo and Levo for before? What I'm trying to say is, that it took me 9 months to build up my t3 dose to 17.5 and I'm still tweaking.

If you feel shaky, you can drop Novo by a tiny bit, but if it's one pill Novo 75, then you would have to split it into 1/8 or 1/4. Why going t3 only if you haven't tried dropping ?

Took half of novothyrol with 25 for 8 weeks and t3 t4 low and tsh high so I took whole 75 and after 6 weeks tsh suppressed t4 /t3 normal but had all shaky legs ,please could you guide me what to do thanks

What you mean by 1/8 1/4 please explain thanks

in reply totamina786

I means splitting into 1/4 tablet or 1/8

Sorry when you mean building up t3 17.5 , are you only taking t3 or also levothyroxine and sorry are you taking medication by your weight that's the guide line I think 1.6 × your weight

in reply totamina786

I take both, 112 Levo and 17.5 t3. It's a rough guide where to start 1.6x kilos, that's what my Levo dose works out at actually, but t3 is additional because I don't convert. What is your doctor proposing?

I'm sorry personal question how much do you weigh

tamina786 in reply to

How you feeling on your dose and what brand of levothyroxine you are on

in reply totamina786

Its not really a personal question, I weigh 75 kilos currently. I'm feeling better than before, but it really takes time. The brand is called Letrox, it's German

How did you get letrox through nhs

in reply totamina786

I get it from a doctor from Poland, I don't live in the UK.

We have to increase any T3 incredibly slowly

Sounds like you increased to suddenly

Usual advice is to only increase by 5mcg T3 at a time and wait 6 weeks. Retest after each increase
