Hello, please see my recent blood results and advise me if I should be changing my medication. I currently take 2 grains of NDT daily. Many many thanks as I’m clueless!!

How do you feel?

These results are typical for someone on NDT

Ft3 is at good level

TSH is always low if adequately treated on NDT

Ft4 tends to be low too

Did you test vitamins?

Yes everything else came out at good levels. I feel ok. I’d be anxious to reduce levels, would be open to increasing if required but I feel ok right now except tired in the evenings and still have to have a big sleep (like 12 hours) once per week - got past daily naps now.

Vitamin D at least over 80nmol

Folate at least over ten

B-12 at least over 500

Ferritin at least half way through range

Ferritin good

Vitamin D, folate and B12 likely too low

The most important question is "How do you feel"?

Due to you taking NDT, blood results cannot correlate as they were introduced along with levothyroxine (T4 alone).

Therefore if we take or add different replacement hormones it should be upon how we 'feel' on particular doses.

I hope the following will be helpful as it is by an Adviser to TUK who only took one blood test for the initial diagnosis and thereafter it was all about symptoms being relieved.
