Presumably NHS?

Email Dionne at Thyroid UK for list of recommend thyroid specialist endocrinologists who will prescribe T3

You must be very upset that the Endo refuses to prescribe T3 for you, especially as the previous one did.

It is very stressful to go through that worry and stress with the threat of not getting T3 prescribed.

I hope you are able to sort it out somehow.

I thought if someone was already on T3 they couldn't have it taken away. Is that not the case?

Unfortunately I don't, I just thought I'd read it somewhere.

They still try to persuade the patient to try other options and many who've been prescribed T3 for years have had it withdrawn.

The regulations at present are that T3 can only be prescribed by an Endo but many don't agree with that, some have told patients they would get no more prescriptions. This is due to the cost of liothyronine to the NHS.

Many patients recover on NDT - in use in various forms since 1893 but due to False Statements being made about it by the BTA they have withdrawn this too. These decisions cause untold anxiety and return patients to ill-health.

Your T3 should not be withdrawn if you have a clinical need for it.

Patients currently prescribed liothyronine, or levothyroxine and liothyronine combination therapy, for hypothyroidism should be reviewed to consider switching to levothyroxine monotherapy where clinically appropriate.

Guidance - Prescribing of Liothyronine Regional Medicines Optimisation Committee (RMOC) June 2019

NB only where clinically appropriate. if you need it, it is clinically appropriate.

the BTA also state that T3 should be maintained for those patients who need it.

If he will not prescribe to any patient that is also a blanket ban, which is unlawful and contrary to the NHS constitution.

In your position I would speak to the Endo remind him of the above (download, print out and give to him if necessary) , and request that the T3 is reinstated. If he doesn't, I would start going down the complaints process to the NHS and to the GMC.
