Doubts regarding diagnosis

Hi guys,

I have a few doubts and wanted to get your opinion.

So last year I had tingling, numbness and regular headaches. I thought it was a b12 issue and have been treating that with shots.

But I remember my serum calcium was slightly higher than normal. But Ionised Calcium was lower than normal.

PTH was normal.

And phosphorus was slightly elevated.

Could this be something related to a thyroid issue?

Do you have some blood results for us to look at? We need the results and the ranges if you have them.

This was a while back. I'm going for some extensive testing next month.

I just want to know if it's possible to have a raised calcium and a normal PTH and have a thyroid problem.

I don't know to be honest but hopefully another member will be able to advise you.

So, what was your diagnosis?

I didn't have a thyroid diagnosis at all. It was just a b12 deficiency. But I have a feeling that the thyroid angle wasn't explored because my calcium was higher than normal.

Even without the high calcium, I doubt they would have explored the thyroid. They do as little of that as they possibly can.

Did you actually get any thyroid tests done? Could you possibly get private tests? Then, at least you'd know if it's worth pursuing with your doctor.

What tests should I get for thyroid?

Can you assist me?

TSH

FT4

FT3

TPO antibodies

Tg antibodies

vit D

vit B12

folate

ferritin

The results of those tests will give you a pretty good idea if you actually have a thyroid problem, or are developing one. :)
