Have you had a definite diagnosis of vitiligo ? If so it is auto-immune. Do you have Hashimotos ?
Not seen gp yet to diagnose vitiligo but have a new white patch. Seeing gp 19 Feb.
Yes I have hashimoto's since July 2018
When I was first prescribed T3, the endo put me on a starting dose of 40 mcg - which was clearly a mistake, as six weeks later he halved it in an appointment lasting less than 30 seconds.
The initial dose left me with white patches on my fingers and face, which are permanent but happily not too prominent. I understand that it is a symptom of too much T3 - so suggest you get your bloods tested before your GP appointment so you can discuss both.
That is interesting. Vitiligo is linked to thyroid problems but giving thyroid hormone might not improve the vitiligo. My grand daughter has it. It improved with vitamin B12 supplement but she stopped it. Other minerals which have been linked to deficiency are zinc and vitamin D. There are US papers on the subject, but information also suggests vitamin A can stimulate the melanocyte in skin to repair itself. There are skin and nail vitamin products on line .. The NHS does do sunlight treatment for vitiligo but am wary of this as my dad had it for psoriasis and ended up with keloid scars later on in life, which were painful. I hope you get more information than my granddaughter did as she was just sent away with the skin specialist saying there is nothing to be done!
Are you on strictly gluten free diet?
This may help hashimoto’s and vitiligo
Obviously many, many hashimoto’s patients find strictly gluten free diet helps or is essential
Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies
While still eating high gluten diet ask GP for coeliac blood test first or buy test online for under £20, just to rule it out first
Assuming test is negative you can immediately go on strictly gluten free diet
(If test is positive you will need to remain on high gluten diet until endoscopy, maximum 6 weeks wait officially)
Trying gluten free diet for 3-6 months. If no noticeable improvement then reintroduce gluten and see if symptoms get worse

There’s some data on the internet about a link between Vit D and vitiligo.
