Vitiligo : Hi everyone I have read that Vitiligo... - Thyroid UK
Vitiligo
Vitiligo is auto-immune - so do you have Hashimotos ? I suffered a little pre-diagnosis back in 2005 and once optimally medicated it disappeared - as did my sun sensitivity
Hi laraline, autoimmune diseases can cause many deficiencies, not sure vitiligo is directly related to hypothyroidism (well not for me personally and I have had an UAT for about 14 years) but it is related to a folic acid deficiency and possibly B12, copper and zinc. May be worth getting your folate checked, if you have not already done so.

Just read nhs choices and said associated with autoimmune. I wonder if some vit D would help and also there is a skin healthunlocked forum that might be able to help.
I have patches of vitiligo in places where most people don't have places. I can say since undergoing the naturopathic program instigated by Roderick Lane that the vitiligo has stopped spreading. However I had had the vitiligo for over 25 years so I wait with interest to see if any of the patches reduce, what I have noticed is that my skin is less sun reactive. Do keep us posted on this one it's very irritating to have white blobby patches on your face in the sunlight.

Have you researched Dr Coimbra's successful treatment of vitiligo with Vit D? He's a remarkable man and has been treating autoimmune diseases for many years.
It's a real shame that not many people have heard of Dr Coimbra as he has been successfully treating MS and other autoimmune diseases for over 15 years. I have a friend with MS and if only I'd known.
