Change of meds to take Levo without coloring

I'm seeing my endo tomorrow to get an up-dose of T3. While I'm there I want to ask to change from 75 mcg of Levo (blue tab) to 50 mcg and thereafter take one and a half tablets of the 50 to equal the 75 I'm on now. The point is to eliminate the coloring, as 50 mcg is a white tab - no coloring. But if there are any reasons not to change to avoid coloring, please someone let me know in advance of my appointment. Thank you for making this forum so easy to use. I'm getting a great education. Just wish endocrinologists would do the same.

I believe it might be more expensive to prescribe the right number of 50 mcg tablets for you to get your 75 mcg dose than it is to prescribe the 75 mcg tablets. So, your doctor might not like that.

I find that the doctor has been very accommodating, so that might not be an issue and I have good insurance.

Just wondering if it is worth it to ditch the color for no color with 1 and a half tablets of 50 adding up to the 75 mcg now taking.

Helvella suggests there is little difference in color versus no color. I guess it is a matter then of whether wanting to discard the color or not, as it may not be possible to know if I am affected by it over the years. I have just read here where it is suggested to some of us to avoid color if one can. Thanks.

I'm afraid I really wouldn't know about how the colour might affect you. But seems like a reasonable thing to do. :)

Thank you. Your opinion has always been helpful, even when you say you are not sure, it has meaning as well.

Very kind of you to say so. :)

We have seen people who find differences when taking different tablet dosages (as you propose) but it is impossible to predict. And (other than the possible issue with the colouring agent you actually do want to change) the difference should be minor.

Just be prepared to feel as if you are a little under- or over-dosed. And take appropriate action.

I will still be taking 75 mcg only by taking one and a half of the 50 mcg. But you seem to imply that there is little purpose in avoiding the coloring. Thank you for that information.

No - not at all. It is very definitely worth trying to avoid the colouring agent. That is why they make one dosage without colour.

I realise you will still be taking what appears to be the same dose. But I know when I changed from two 50 microgram tablets to one 100 microgram tablet, I noticed a small difference. Some do, some don't.
