Should i be seeing GP

I have currently (this is the fourth day) got a horrific sore throat and pain over front of neck, also i keep waking during the night with unimaginable pain in throat. This has happened 4 times now in a year. The first two times i put it down to a virus, the third time i was busy so just kind of got on with it but now i am beginning to wonder if this is thyroid related as it seems strange i would get the same virus 4 times in a year. I am currently hypo with no meds (long story) and waiting to see the Endo in a few weeks. Has anyone else had anything similar? Thank you in anticipation x

Have you had vitamin levels tested?

Looking at previous posts your antibodies appear negative

TSH too high, FT4 very low

20% of Hashimoto's patients never have raised antibodies

Had ultrasound scan of thyroid yet?

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Ask GP to test vitamin levels

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

All B12, folic, Vit D and Iron low. My scan just showed my thyroid was very small. She didn't say i had any nodules or anything just that it looked small.

I would be consulting a GP and having a full thyroid test done! Ask to have vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin tested as well.

You appear to be hypothyroid.

Many of us choose private testing because NHS tests are inadequate

We are all too good at just trying to get on with life when really we should be having treatment.....I did because medics failed to identify my thyroid problem!

Good to know you will be seeing an endo....hope he knows his stuff!

If you wish, post any labs you have, including ranges, and members will advise.

How does your voice sound? When I am under medicated or done too much I get a sore throat which feels fatter and firmer at the front. My voice also goes very croaky and everyone remarks on it!
