Causes of thyroid problems
Traditional Chinese Medicine sees weak kidneys as a source of many ills. Am sure all are involved in some way - we are complex machines ..
I think mine came from my Irish father after researching thyroid disease. It seems a lot of Irish people suffer from it because of the potato famine when people were starving to death and their metabolism slowed down so they could survive. In the US people who are related to American Indians sometimes have it because the Indians were starving to death.

Most T4 to T3 conversion takes place in the liver and kidneys with remainder occurring “peripherally” - at the target organ or muscle. Other hormones are known to affect thyroid hormones.
But to pinpoint these as the primary “origin” of thyroid problems without taking into account the many other factors (autoantibodies, digestion, pituitary function, diet deficiencies or excesses, illness, inflammation, genetic factors) that affect thyroid metabolism is, IMO, oversimplification.
