That looks like eczema to me, I have a patch like that on my elbow. I use Hydrocortisone 1% cream which I buy over the counter from the pharmacy.

Hi Minimum 97

I hope you can eventually get a correct diagnosis. I had / have a rash like that, mine intially started on the inside of my arms and it was very itchy. After being treated 3 times by my Dr for scabies the pharmacist asked if she could have a look because she was concerned about the continual scabies diagnosis and it wasnt between my fingers or hands . She didnt give me the presciption and told me to ask for a referal to a dermatoligist. By this time it had spread over my torso as well . I had a skin biopsy done and I was diagnosed with '' Lichen Planus ''. It comes and goes depending on how stressed I am and / what I eat.

Psoriasis is common in hypothyroidism. I have had a similar itchy (oh so itchy) rash on my lower legs which I had been treating with E45 anti-itch cream - yes, it stops the itching but the rash persisted. Then I received a tip regarding rubbing the area gently with the inside skin of a banana. Not only is has the itch relieved for longer periods but the rash is disappearing too! I strongly advise trying this - it is nor a 'mad' idea.

I think I read there are high levels of magnesium in banana skins - I wonder if it is significant. Are there any theories as to why they work? I have got terrible itching on my shins that I scratch till they bleed it is so excrucuating. I’ll try some banana skins on them. No idea what is causing it. I had it very badly when I was extremely overt with untreated hypo but this more recent annoying episode has occurred despite feeling reasonably well on NDT. Drives me nuts.

I know of no theories why it works but I am so pleased with the progress of my itchy skin that I pass it on to all the afflicted! I was also advised to use it on my face overnight to nourish the skin and prevent wrinkles but I haven't tried it yet. I rub my skin with the moist inside of the banana skin and wait for it to dry before covering it with clothing. I hope you get relief from the dreadful itching soon and you, too, can pass on the tip.

I think it's what they call seborrheic eczema. My housemate had it on her wrists and neck once, and my first thought was that her perfume had gone off. Turned out I was right, so I'll suggest that might have happened to you too.

Avoid wearing perfume on your wrist for a few weeks, it should clear up on it's own. A steroid will help, but it's not necessary if you take the irritant away. If you can't get a GP appointment, a bit if E45 cream will be fine.

I had similar as a girl but it never got a definitive diagnosis. Interesting to see there are a few suggestions here. I hope you discover what it is soon and are able to get rid of it. 🍀☘️🍀

See a dr or nurse as none of us are qualified to diagnose but looks like contact dermatitis to me. Possibly something you’ve used/ touched.

I get similar from laundry detergents, some perfumes and wallpaper paste! Washed a wall that had been stripped of old wallpaper, couldn’t understand why my hands were going red, itching, blotchy, doesn’t seem to matter how old that paste is.
