Wondering if anyone has any information on taking Ativan along with Levo and propylthiauracil? Going on a long flight and I have a severe fear of flying, and heights. I think I’ve been sick with worry for over two weeks now. I’ve had this awful rocking sensation like being on a boat and it’s lasting longer and gettin more intense as the day I fly is approaching. Could be a hypo symtom to maybe but the last time I had this my dad was in hospital really I’ll and it subsided when my dad got better so could be anxiety related? Anyways...I have a few Ativan left (2mg) which I’ve taken on previous flights, but I’ve never taken them while I’ve been on Levo and ATM. Any advice?? Thanks 😁

Levo, Anti-thyroid meds’ and Ativan?
Hi
As nobody seems to have replied I tried to look it up. In this article it says:
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl... says:
"Drugs that affect thyroid function in patients taking levothyroxine. .."
listed under "Increased hepatic metabolism... " is Carbemazepine . That means that the liver processes thyroxine faster than normal.
lorazepam (Ativan) is apparently one of the benzodiazepine group of drugs. I looked it up and it doesn't seem that Carbemazepine is. Not sure though.
Unless we can find out more I think it's likely OK to take, as long as it is several hours away from the levo. There don't seem to be any dangerous interactions, or they aren't mentioned, so you should be OK.
Hopefully someone else can help. shaws ? SeasideSusie ? Maybe one of you knows?
I'm sorry you didn't have a response and maybe because no-one had an experience with Carbamazepine. This is a link with excerpt below
Carbamazepine is used to prevent and control seizures. This medication is known as an anticonvulsant or anti-epileptic drug. It is also used to relieve certain types of nerve pain (such as trigeminal neuralgia).
