Please can someone help me with my cholesterol results they read as follows

Serum cholesterol. 6.9 mmol/L

SerumHDL 1.8. mmol/L

Total cholesterol HDL ratio 3.8

Serum LDL 4.5 mmol/L

Serum triglycerides. 1.4 mmol/L

Going back to the thyroid I know this can effect cholesterol.

I I have two other ranges on my printout which I have no idea at all what they are can somebody enlighten me please

HbA1c Levl - IFCC standardised. 34 mmol/L 20.00 - 41.00mmol/L

GFR Calculated abbreviated MDRD. 80 mL/m/1.73m

I am sorry to be a pain but I am worried about my cholesterol and curious what these results are.

Many thanks 😊

HBA1C is an overall blood sugar level, used to check for diabetes

diabetes.co.uk/what-is-hba1...

GFR is kidney function test

medlineplus.gov/ency/articl...

Being Hypothyroid can lead to low GFR

Yes high cholesterol can be result of being hypothyroid

nhs.uk/conditions/statins/c...

If you have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), treatment may be delayed until this problem is treated. This is because having an underactive thyroid can lead to an increased cholesterol level, and treating hypothyroidism may cause your cholesterol level to decrease, without the need for statins. Statins are also more likely to cause muscle damage in people with an underactive thyroid.

People with low cholesterol die earlier in hospital. Raised cholesterol does NOT cause heart failure ....

I have high cholesterol due to my thyroid and hereditary cholesterol disease. I’ve been put on Fenofibrate because statins didn’t work and they increase muscle pain. Statins aren’t the best solution for us with hypothyroidism. It might be best if you are referred to lipid clinic and have a blood test for high levels of lipoprotein (lp)a. I’m intolerant to a lot of medications as many of us have this with hypothyroidism.so I just keep trying meds till I find the right one. 6.9 level is relatively high.

Dr Kendrick is worth a look, he has written 3 books and has a blog. High cholesterol is not a problem, low cholesterol is. Those with high cholesterol tend to live longer. Statins can have nasty side effects, one of which is diabetes.

Dr Kendrick also wrote a very good piece on his blog a couple of years ago called "treating thyroid patients like children"
