Soy isoflavones and thyroid disease (Hashimoto's)

For the past six months, I've been suffering from low mood and mood swings that I put down to menopause (I'm 50). I was put on estrogel and Utrogestan and felt somewhat better but not optimal.

A friend of mine who did not get 100% improvement with HRT tried Menopause support by A. Vogel and it has worked great for her, better than any prescription drug. Her mood swings and slight depression are gone since she went on it in August and she now says she could not be without it.

I've been considering giving it a try, but I realise it contains soy isoflavones supposed to raise your estrogen levels. I know soy messes with thyroid. So my question is: would it be a bad idea to try it, or could a raise in thyroid meds counter the effects of soy?

Just noticed your post. I've just started with soy isoflavones as they helped years ago when I was 50. So far so good. I never went on HRT medicines as worried about health risks and I react badly to synthetics and fillers. I'm 64 and been on Levo 50mcg for years. Taken all vitamin supplements and generally eat well exercise etc. The main issue I had was with feeling 'flat' and without optimism/energy. They say that soy can interact or reduce thyroxine effects but quite honestly I'm prepared to take a chance as I have been feeling more energetic/positive etc. I also take starflower oil supplements which helped massively with PMT years ago.

Please let me know what you decided to do and if it worked.
