I am looking for a multivitamin (not necessarily mineral as well) without all the above, but can't seem to find one. I don't want to have to buy loads of individual supplements as I already pay out enough due to self medicating.
I would gratefully appreciate any help on this. I have purchased several vitamin supplements and after further pharmaceutical research, there are a lot of hidden nasties in them and hidden gluten, yeasts and soya... All of which I'm trying to avoid 100%.
The trouble with multivitamins is that they don't contain enough of any of the active ingredients to help with low levels. They also tend to use the cheapest and least absorbable forms of ingredients. Many also contain iron which will affect the absorption of everything else as iron should be taken 2 hours away from other supplements.
What are your current levels of Vit D, B12, Folate and Ferritin, these are the core vitamins and the ones we should concentrate on.
Thanks, I don't know, but last year my iron, vit D and B12 test showed normal ranges. On a previous test, it showed my B12 levels were too high as I was taking a high potency supplement. I have since reduced it. I think I am starting the menopause, so I want to make sure I'm getting a full range of nutrients. I just don't want to have tons of separate supplements. I eat a healthy gluten free diet, so I just want to top up.
"last year my iron, vit D and B12 test showed normal ranges"
What were the actual results? "Normal" just means that it's somewhere within the range. Considering the range for ferritin is often 13-150, someone with a level of 13 is "normal" and so is someone with a level of 150, but the one with a level of 13 could very well have iron deficiency anaemia.
You only need to supplement where necessary, and for that you need to have current results if you want to supplement. If your levels are already optimal then you don't need to supplement and you will waste your money on buying a supplement "to top up".
I absolutely LOVE this whole food liquid one from Natureβs Plus! It meets your criteria list except for one thing: it does contain 150 mcg Iodine (as potassium iodide). Other than that, it is gluten, yeast, dairy, soya and iron free. Its vegetarian and hypoallergenic.
I only take 1/2 serving daily so the bottle lasts me a long time. I have tried many supplements and multivitamins and have to be very careful of filler ingredients. Iβm sticking with this one. Iβm very fit despite having Lupus, Sjogrens and being HypoT and this liquid gives me what I need.

I eat quite a lot of tuna, and that has it in. I've read that you shouldn't supplement extra iodine if you are hypo and on hypo meds. My doctor also states that.
I suppose it depends if you have an excess of iodine. Three ounces of tuna only provide 17 mcg, or about 11% of the recommended daily intake for iodine. Iodine is essential in making thyroid hormones.

Yes, iodine supplementing is likely to make hypothyroidism worse. If you are taking levothyroxine it contains iodine anyway. Same with T3.

Thought so, I take T3 on the form of NDT

Apparently the only time anyone should supplement iodine is if you have been tested as deficient. Even some foods high in iodine are maybe best avoided. Such as seaweed based foods or supplements. Other foods are ok I think and even sea salt. Sea plants concentrate it

So I gather, and therefore I avoid overeating it... Although I am a bit addicted to the crispy seaweed you get in Chinese restaurants, good job those visits are few and far between π.
Viridian phytoplus, no iodine and most of multi you need. I took it but it dose have other minerals and herbs in it. I now take separate vits to keep optimum and yes it dose cost. Itβs the only combined vitamins supplement I found without iodine.
Yes - just eat avocado ! Avocado π₯ has 20 different minerals and vitamins in it. The next best food in the world is Spinach but thatβs a weak second to avocado with just 13 vitamins and minerals lol. An avocado a day keeps the doctor away!
If you don't find what you need from any other source maybe you might consider juicing.
Loads of alternative info is currently being banned from the internet but right now there is still plenty to be found.
Just a thought. Its a bio available way to get lots of vitamins and minerals into you.And you may have an easier task just supplementing those you may miss.
I don't know where you're based but the Finchley Clinic (UK) healthfood store- run by a naturopath I think?- has a very good selection of products online. I buy from them and they send to me in Switzerland. Most of the excellent quality brands they stock such as Higher Nature and Biocare are free of wheat, gluten, dairy - and sometimes iodine. thefinchleyclinic.com/shop/
I am in the states & having the same difficulty locating a multivitamin meeting your criteria as well. If you come across anything please let me know & I will do the same. I hear Susieβs wisdom but I have self tested additional labs than what she advises & they were low (below range). In my case I am thinking a suitable multivitamin may be helpful, because I am on a low oxalate meal plan that makes it more difficult (avoiding nuts, avocados etc.) to get all that is required daily.
Hiya! I have decided to buy from different sources for different vitamins and minerals, which I was hoping not to have to do. After much research and help from folk on this post, I cannot find ' one fixes all ' for my individual needs. There are a few brands that are free of the known allergens but contain iodine which I don't want to take. Cytoplan (thanks to SAUK for informing me), is a good make and free of most allergens. I get my selenium from Vega Vitamins, and my zinc, copper and vit C pill from Oxford Vitality. Unfortunately, they are not cheap like the pharmacies on the high street, but cheaper than some brands.
This thyroid self management is breaking my bank, I don't know about you?! I feel sorry for folks on low or no incomes if they're trying to help themselves .
Thank you so much for your input. After reading your post I came across a article by Jessica Pizano called Vitamins without Iodine on LiveStrong.Com
Nothing I saw there seemed to match perfectly. The one by Thorne may have come the closest but it was $30 for 250, they want you to take 6/day & it is designed for men. Hardly a fit. I will continue to keep my eyes open for a product, but do as you are in the mean time.
