Another different manufacturer !

I wrote recently about my chemist constantly changing the manufacturer of my thyroxine. I now have a brand called Teva ... mixing with mercury pharma

I am getting fed up of the multiple changing and blending of brands ... as I’m concerned about possible negative reactions !

Any thoughts ? Is this brand ok?

Does anyone know if I change my prescription to boots whether the brands given will be more consistent and reliable ?

Teva is a brand that many people suffer adverse reactions with. However, some people get on fine with it.

It's not a good idea to mix brands or change brands. If you know there is a brand that suits you then you could ask your pharmacy to supply only that brand, or ask your GP to specify it on your prescription. Other than that, you can collect your paper prescription and ring round pharmacies to see who can dispense the brand you want.

Boots often supply Almus brand, which is Actavis repackaged specifically for them, just as NorthStar is Actavis repackaged for Lloyds pharmacy. Sometimes though they do dispense other brands.

A change of brand could give you one where the fillers don’t suit you or the potency is slightly different so always best to select something you know suits you and ask the doctor to name it on your prescription. After changing brand then test bloods after 6-8 weeks so you can tweak anything you need to and be more stable.

My local boots seems to have switched to Teva recently so changing pharmacies may not make any difference.

I am not having any problems with it
